The Frozen Farmscape

January 06, 2016 by Real Farmwife On The County Line in Stories

Bright morning sunlight on a landscape touched by frozen fog is one of my favorite winter scenes. In about fifteen minutes I captured all this icy magnificence less than two miles from our farmstead. I'll probably never fully embrace the bitter cold and the blustery winds that hit the plains this time of year, but there's no doubt that there's a magical beauty when the countryside is covered in sparkling white.

More importantly, these mornings are pretty, but not a hindrance to caring for our livestock. There's a skiff of snow that has hung on since around Christmas Eve that's beautiful but not terribly burdensome.

I'm anxious for spring. And warmer weather. But until then, I'll enjoy mornings like this when God gives us a world of winter beauty to make up for the cold.
